As you may have noticed during the latter part of the past holiday season, Google was testing Merchant Promotions links on mobile Google.com Product Listing Ads (PLAs). Starting today, mobile Merchant Promotions are officially available in all live Merchant Promotions countries besides Germany. The user experience is similar to desktop with a few changes to ensure a good user experience on mobile.
First, the Merchant Promotions links appearing on mobile PLAs will include structured data about the promotion. This structured link will include information such as the promotion type and benefit amount. The goal is to give users more information upfront about the promotion in a standardized and consistent format.
Secondly, When the link is tapped, an interstitial will appear with the full details regarding the Merchant Promotion, including the redemption code where applicable. This is a similar user experience to the pop-up window that appears on desktop, only adapted for the mobile form factor.
