Setting Up Your New Twitter Header Image
Today I’m finally getting around to messing with the new header image feature in Twitter. It totally reminds me of the Facebook Timeline cover photo (and it kinda reminds me of the Google+ cover image, too).
I love the FB Timeline, so of course I love the new Twitter header feature. Here is what I made for my Twitter profile (@kerrydean):
Hot Rod becomes Rodimus Prime in ‘Transformers: The Movie’ (1986)
Based on the fact that I’m just now looking into it, I don’t have a lot of details. However, I have managed to figure out that you need an image that is 520 pixels x 260 pixels. That’s 520×260. And it looks like the maximum file size is 5MB. Also, the maximum dimensions are set at 1252×626. And also, my profile pic is 73×73. I’m not sure if that is the official dimension. It’s just the one that I used to make mine look right.
Also, Twitter is going to overlay all your bio information in white text. I don’t think you can change that. Furthermore, there is a white square that is overlaid on the image, and it appears that you can’t do anything about that either. Maybe you can though. Check it out on your own if you dare.
To get started with your new header image, head over to: http://twitter.com/settings/design, and look for the ‘Change Header’ button. From there, you can upload your header image. Then you just have to jump over to http://twitter.com/settings/profile, and that is where you can upload your profile picture.
Here are some other examples of the new Twitter header image:
