Google's New Look
Today something extraordinary happened. The world’s third most valuable company changed its logo.
The logo redesign comes a few weeks after Google’s restructuring announcement in which it now falls under the new parent company, Alphabet. The new logo’s likeness to Alphabet’s corporate look and feel is uncanny, too. But that is hardly surprising, right?
So why the change?
Despite the style being slightly “behind the times” in comparison to many other companies of its stature, there was a deeper meaning for the most recent change. The Google of today is far different from the Google we originally knew almost two decades ago. In a nutshell, it has become so much more than just a search engine, as Google’s blog discusses.
It is thus only fitting that that the logo of a company so ingrained in our daily lives and existences aptly reflect these various (and many) touch points. And in true google fashion, the new rollout was glorious. Simple. Flat. Approachable.
In the days and weeks to come, be on the lookout for the style updates in your favorite Google products.
